How AvFinIQ data works

End-of-day, not live

AvFinIQ is built on end-of-day (EOD) data. Prices, volumes and delivery figures are refreshed after each trading day closes, so every screen describes the latest completed session, not the market right now. Each screen shows the date of the data it uses; check that date before relying on a number.

Where the data comes from

Prices, traded volumes and delivery quantities come from end-of-day files published by the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE). Fundamentals, shareholding patterns, corporate actions and announcements come from company filings and exchange disclosures.

Coverage is NSE-listed securities only. Securities listed solely on other exchanges, such as BSE, are not included.

AvFinIQ is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by NSE.

What we calculate

Measures such as all-time-high streaks, delivery trends and scanner results are calculated by AvFinIQ from that underlying data each time it is refreshed. Where a measure can reasonably be defined in more than one way, we say which definition is used. For all-time highs, for example, the day's high and the closing price give different answers, and both are available.

Known limits

Source data can arrive late, be corrected after publication, or occasionally be wrong. Recently listed stocks have little history, so their streaks and trends are short. Thinly traded stocks can move sharply on small volumes. Funds, ETFs, SME-segment shares and infrastructure trusts trade on the same exchange but behave differently from ordinary shares, so measures are not always comparable between them.

Nothing on AvFinIQ is a forecast. A historical pattern describes what happened; it does not tell you what will happen next.
